KARACHI: Iranian Consul General Hassan Nourian stressed that Pakistan and Iran can play a decisive role in bringing about world peace. He praised Pakistan’s stand against atrocities in Palestine and praised the enthusiasm and affection towards Iran among the Pakistani people, a press release said.
Nourian also highlighted the historical relationship between the two regions, noting that Persian rule would have prevailed in the Indian subcontinent had it not been for the intervention of British imperialism.
During his meeting with a delegation from the Pakistani organization CLIF, Nouryan stressed the importance of strengthening cultural and diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Iran. He encouraged enhancing harmony between the two countries, and expressed Iran’s readiness to host more pilgrims and tourists. Nourian also requested assistance in handing over the hosting of an international award to Iran.
Nourian reiterated Iran’s commitment to peace and its readiness to confront repression against the Islamic nation. He praised Hezbollah’s resistance against Israel and called on the Pakistani government to take more practical steps to prevent incidents like Parachinar.
Minister Syed Qalb Muhammad echoed this sentiment, stressing the need to strengthen tourism, education, trade and diplomatic relations between Iran and Pakistan.
