Karachi: The Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued show-cause notices to the Secretary, Sindh School Education and Literacy Department and Director of School Education for non-compliance with the earlier court order. A press release stated that the hearing was held before a single-member panel headed by Justice Mahmood Khan. It is pertinent to mention here that in the earlier order, the court directed the government authorities to hand over possession of the premises of Delhi Government Boys’ and Girls’ School to Delhi Anglo Arab College Society and Old Boys’ School and directed them to explain as follows: Why possession of the school premises should not be handed over to Old Boys’ Society through the Superintendent. The court issues a possession order. Advocate Asad Ahmed, counsel for the Old Boys Association, submitted that a contempt petition has been filed against the authorities for not complying with the court order along with a stay application seeking to restrict any further construction work being carried out on the school premises. The court granted stay and prohibited the authorities from carrying out any construction work and issued notices to the officials concerned. The educational institution is located in Karachi’s Karimabad area and consists of four buildings – only one of which has been handed over to the Old Boys’ Association.
