BEIJING: The Embassy of Pakistan hosted the Annual Conference of Consuls General 2024 from December 17 to 18, chaired by Pakistan Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi. The two-day event brought together consuls general from Pakistan’s consulates general in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu, a press release said.
The conference reviewed the activities of the consulates over the past year, discussed the synergies achieved between the consulates and the embassy in Beijing and identified strategic goals and priorities for the coming year. The Consuls General provided in-depth briefings on a range of key areas, including consular services, trade and economic relations, cultural and educational cooperation, and community welfare activities. They also presented detailed action plans for 2025 aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, promoting trade and investment, and enhancing services to the Pakistani community, including students in China.
In his remarks, Ambassador Khalil Hashemi praised the efforts of the Consuls General in deepening China-Pakistan relations and stressed the need to support the spirit of cooperation between all Pakistani missions in China to achieve common goals. He called for maintaining the highest standards of service and commitment to promote bilateral trade, investment and assistance to the Pakistani community living in China. While reviewing the action plans submitted by the consulates, the Ambassador advised the consuls general to maintain the momentum generated by B2B conferences and roadshows, in line with the consensus reached between the leadership of China and Pakistan. He also stressed the importance of harnessing relations between the provinces and sister cities, with the aim of enhancing popular and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
The conference concluded with a decision to develop a comprehensive work plan for the coming year, in accordance with the Ambassador’s directives, and to conduct regular reviews of progress throughout the year, with a comprehensive mid-year review being conducted in July 2025. .
