Washington, D.C.: Richmond, Virginia – Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin has appointed Mansoor Qureshi, a prominent Pakistani-American businessman and community leader, to the Virginia Asian Advisory Board (VAAB).
In his new capacity, Qureshi will advise Governor Youngkin on critical issues impacting the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities. His role will also focus on strengthening Virginia’s economic and cultural ties with Asian countries, with an emphasis on commerce, arts, education and governance.
Governor Yongkin praised the appointment, saying:
“Today, I am grateful to announce these appointments. I am confident that their leadership will help us advance the spirit of Virginia and deliver remarkable progress for our commonwealth.”
Established in 2001, the Virginia Asian Advisory Council serves as a formal bridge between the Governor’s Administration and the state’s rapidly growing AAPI communities. Its mission is to advocate for the needs and aspirations of these communities while strengthening Virginia’s position as a global center for commerce, culture and education.
Qureshi is an entrepreneur and recruitment partner, and is also the host of the TV show Capital Corner. With more than 20 years of experience in the IT industry, 17 years in recruitment and staffing, and a decade in digital media and broadcasting, he is recognized as a respected community leader and advocate for economic and cultural growth.
Expressing his gratitude for the appointment, Qureshi said, “I am honored to represent the AAPI community on this esteemed Board and to contribute to the growth and development of the State of Virginia. I look forward to working with Governor Youngkin and my fellow Board members to meet the needs of our diverse communities and strengthen relationships with Asian nations.”
