- The prison official says Shaukat Khanum’s doctors are coming for examinations.
- Anjum stresses that prison staff are urged to treat every prisoner with kindness.
- “Rumors about Imran Khan’s health and solitary confinement are false.”
ISLAMABAD: A warden at Adiala Jail has refuted reports about changing the cell or barracks of PTI founder Imran Khan. News I mentioned.
Khan has not been transferred to a new cell or barracks, and is still staying where he was detained, Adiala Prison Director Ghafoor Anjum told the publication in an exclusive conversation.
The ousted prime minister has been detained at the facility for more than a year since his arrest in a case related to state gifts.
The warden said that all facilities were available to the PTI founder as before and he never complained about the comfort and convenience in the jail.
He added, “Doctors from Shaukat Khanum Hospital came to the prison, examined his teeth, and gave him medications that made him healthy. He did not complain of hemorrhoids or any other illness after entering prison.”
Khan is imprisoned in top-tier (Category B) facilities with maximum security due to his status as a former prime minister. He faces several cases, including the £190 million case, the Toshakhana case, and others.
Anjum described speculation about Khan’s health as baseless, saying the cricketer-turned-politician “trains for three hours intensely without interruption.”
He said prison staff are encouraged to treat every prisoner with kindness.
He added: “The rumors about Imran Khan’s health and solitary confinement are completely false, and it will also be proven to be a lie when a meeting with him is allowed.”
It may be noted that the Punjab government has banned all meetings inside the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, as a measure to enhance the security of the facility in view of the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit. The event is scheduled to be held in neighboring Islamabad from October 15 to 16, while meetings have been restricted until October 18.
