KARACHI: The Cultural Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Karachi, hosted a special and exclusive screening of the highly acclaimed Iranian film In the Lap of the Tree (Dar Aghush Derakht) at Cinepax Cinema, Ocean Mall on Thursday. The event brought together film lovers, cultural figures and media professionals to witness a masterpiece of storytelling and cinematography.
Dr. Saeed Talbinia, Director of the Iranian Cultural Center in Karachi, welcomed guests to the screening, emphasizing the power of the film as a bridge between cultures. Directed by Babak Lotfi Khaji Pasha, “In the Arms of a Tree” received international acclaim and was Iran’s official submission for Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards. The film delves into the emotional complexities of Kimya and Farid’s turbulent marriage, and explores its devastating effect on their children. Thanks to convincing performances and beautiful narration, the film captivated the audience and left a deep emotional impact.
The Karachi screening marks the start of nationwide screening starting January 10, 2025. Cinema lovers in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Quetta, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Gujranwala and other cities can now experience the soul-stirring drama that has moved audiences across the globe. .
