Director Paul Feig has denied rumors that “A Simple Favor 2” has been delayed indefinitely by Amazon due to drama surrounding star Blake Lively.

“BREAKING: Amazon puts ‘A Simple Favor 2’ on shelves indefinitely,” read the first post in the thread. “Despite glowing test offers, Blake Lively’s refusal to promote — amid her messy legal battle with Justin Baldoni — and growing tensions with Anna Kendrick have derailed the sequel. Anna is furious. Paul Feig is disappointed. Hollywood is in shock. This “It’s not just a movie, it’s an implosion.”
Feige responded to the post that evening, strongly denying that there was any problem with the film’s release.
“This is total BS. Sorry,” Feige wrote. “The movie is finished and will be released soon. “Don’t believe anything you read on social media these days.”
The investigator then asked Feig to “clarify” why Amazon has not yet set a release date for the film, noting that it is “packaged in April 2024.” Feig responded, “Dude, this is called post-production, which generally takes at least more than half a year when you take into account the editing, recording, special effects, sound mixing, close-up captioning, and all the technical quality control that has to be done. Our schedule was The release schedule always has us finished by mid-January. Movies aren’t released as soon as they’re finished because the studio spends the previous year figuring out the best release date. That’s how movies work this.”
In a follow-up response to a fan, Feige wrote: “The movie is amazing, and Blake and Anna give amazing performances. Can’t wait for you all to see it. Stay tuned for more details. Simple Favor 2 is coming soon!”
