Antonio Vivaldi’s film “Primavera” is on pre-sale to major distributors trendy blogger

“Primavera,” a film about Antonio Vivaldi, the Italian Baroque composer and violinist who wrote “The Four Seasons,” has been purchased by a group of major distributors.

Filmed in Rome and Venice, repped by Memento International, the film marks the debut of Damiano Micheletto, the pioneering opera director.

Warner Bros. will The film will be released in Italy, while Diaphana Distribution will release it in France. Pre-sales closed by Memento International are Benelux (Cineart), Germany and Austria (X Verleih), Spain (A Contracorriente Films), Switzerland (Frenetic), and Poland (M2 Films). There are several other areas under negotiations.

“Primavera” is written by Ludovica Ramboldi, award-winning screenwriter of films such as “The Traitor”, “Gomora – The Series” and others. The screenplay is loosely adapted from Tiziano Scarpa’s critically acclaimed novel “Stabat Mater.”

Set in 18th-century Venice, “Primavera” revolves around Cecilia, a 20-year-old violinist who lives in the Pieta orphanage. Despite her talent, Cecilia remains trapped inside the orphanage, knowing that marriage is the only way out. However, her life takes another turn after she meets Antonio Vivaldi, a brilliant and ambitious composer who becomes her new violin teacher. Under the guidance of Vivaldi and his music, Cecilia finds “the strength to defy a fate that once seemed inevitable,” as the film’s synopsis states. “Primavera” stars Tekla Insolia (“The Art of Joy”) as Cecilia and Michele Riondino (“Balazzina Love,” “Worldly Girl”) as Vivaldi.

Micheletto has collaborated with major Italian and international opera houses, from the Teatro alla Scala in Milan to the Royal Opera House in London, from the Teatro La Fenice in Venice to the Staatsoper in Berlin, as well as the Bastille Opera in Paris.

The distinguished main crew includes cinematographer Daria D’Antonio (“Hand of God”, “Parthenope”), editor Walter Fasano (“Call Me By Your Name”, “Suspiria”), composer Fabio Massimo Capogrosso (“Kidnapped”), production designer Gaspare De Pascali ( “Sicilian Letters”) and costume designer Maria Rita Barbera (“Son’s Room”).

Primavera is a Warner Bros. production. Entertainment Italia and Indigo Film (“La Grande Belleza” and Paolo Sorrentino’s “Youth”), in co-production with Moana Films. The film was supported by the Regione Lazio PR FESR Fund and the Fondazione Veneto Film Commission.
