International Image Tree. The company has acquired the international sales rights to “Old White Man,” a satirical drama written by Simon Verhoeven, the box office hit director of “Welcome to Germany.”

“Old White Man” stars Jean-Joseph Levers, Nadia Uhl and Elias Mebarek, and is produced by Keren Berg, Max Wiedemann and Kirsten Winkler of Wiedemann & Berg Film. PTI will introduce the film to buyers next month at the European Film Market.

Released in German-speaking territories by Leonen Distribution, the film has attracted nearly one million admissions in Germany to date and remains in release.

The Old White Man examines the generational and cultural divide in today’s society through the lens of Heinz Helmich, a middle-aged family man on the verge of losing his job after a series of communication blunders at work. Desperate to prove that he is not just an “old white man,” he invites his boss and his guests to a dinner party, aiming to present his family as modern and “woke.” However, chaos ensues as old grievances resurface, unexpected guests arrive, and the conversation escalates through the most sensitive issues of the present day.

says Yuan Rothbauer-Sui, co-managing director of Picture Tree Intl. “Old White Man continues Simon Verhoeven’s talent for delivering socially relevant and acutely observed stories that resonate with audiences across cultures.” “We are delighted to continue our partnership with Simon following the widespread international success of ‘Welcome to Germany’, which has also struck a chord internationally.”

The film was produced with the support of the DFFF, FFF Bayern, FFA, MBB and the Bavarian State Ministry for Digital Affairs.
