The Executive Committee reviews the progress of various projects in SIFC’s key sectors – Trendy Blogger

Islamabad: The Private Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) held its twelfth meeting of its Executive Committee to review the progress made on various aspects and projects in key sectors of the Council.

The Committee also gave directions to accelerate various outstanding cross-sectoral issues through policy-level initiatives and stakeholder consultation, using the SIFC Forum.

The meeting was chaired by Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, and was attended by concerned federal ministers, SIFC National Coordinator, Federal Secretaries, Provincial Chief Secretaries and senior government officials, said a press release issued here on Wednesday. .

The Ministries presented the progress of various projects and policy initiatives, channeled through the SIFC Forum, and presented comprehensive plans for rapid follow-up of various matters.

The Committee discussed and reached consensus on key policy aspects relating to key sectors including industry, agriculture, livestock, mining and minerals, oil and gas, ports, maritime, aviation, connectivity and infrastructure.

The Committee reviewed the progress and gave directions for rapid implementation of the renewed approach towards the SEZ framework, which was recently approved by the 11th meeting of the Supreme Committee, chaired by

prime minister.

The committee stressed that close coordination and cooperation among relevant stakeholders is essential to boost industrialization in the country and that efforts to revamp the SEZ model will serve as a catalyst in this endeavour.

The committee expressed its appreciation for the ongoing efforts to grant industrial status to the warehousing and logistics sector and gave directions to expedite approval processes.

The committee stressed that this policy initiative will unleash investments to develop modern supply chain infrastructure to support exports, agriculture and manufacturing sectors, with the potential to position Pakistan as a preferred country in the global and regional supply chain model.

The Committee reviewed the progress made and gave directions to accelerate various aspects related to port and shipping infrastructure including new dredging of port channels and improved handling of terminals to facilitate exports of mineral products and imports of various commodities.
