Other details regarding “Maserati: The Brothers”, which will begin filming soon in Bologna, are still under wraps.

Maserati was founded in 1914 in a garage in the central Italian city of Bologna by three brothers: Alfieri, Ettore and Ernesto. The trident that represents the company’s logo is a replica of the one found in the Fountain of Neptune in Bologna. From the beginning, the company – now known for exotic luxury cars – was associated with the world of motor racing. Maserati’s first Grand Prix car, called the “Type 26”, was the car Alfieri Maserati was driving in the 1927 Messina Trophy race when he was involved in a near-fatal accident. Alfieri died a few years later, on March 3, 1932, at the age of 44, due to complications related to this accident. In 1937, with the brothers still involved, they sold a controlling interest in the company, now owned by Fiat.

Hopkins’ most recent notable performance is his role as Emperor Vespasian in the final years of his decade-long reign in Roland Emmerich’s gladiatorial series Those About to Die.
