Punjab imposes a fine of 10,000 rupees to wash cars at home to combat water waste

Lahore: In line with the direction of the Lahore Court, the Ministry of Environment Al -Punjab provided strict measures and huge penalties to reduce the use of excessive water. As part of these efforts, a fine of 10,000 rupees was imposed on individuals who wash vehicles at home, as well as those who use pipes for unnecessary purposes. In addition, the authorities were directed to take immediate action against illegal service stations.

A special committee, consisting of a chief minister Maryam Urangazib, Minister of Environment Raja Jahangir, and Director of Environmental Protection, Imran Hamed Sheikh, was established to supervise the implementation of the orders of the Lahore Olaya Court.

Director Imran Hamid Sheikh explained that all service stations in Punjab must prove water recycling systems by February 28, with those who face a fine of 100,000 rupees. New regulations also prohibit the use of oil -based materials to wash cars and extract groundwater for construction purposes.

These measures are part of the Environmental Punjab Law and are immediately implemented, reflecting the increasing concerns about water conservation. The Ministry of Environment highlighted that Punjab witnessed a 42 % decrease in rain during the past five years, which has contributed to the continuous water shortage.

The authorities have urged citizens to adhere to these regulations to help conservative water, excuseing strict legal action against violators.
