Pakistan is inviting global participation in the foreign direct investment initiative in April

The Minister of State for Information and Communications Technology, Shaza Fatima Khawaga, called on member states of Digital Cooperation (DCO) and other countries to participate in the Pakistan Foreign Foreign Investment Initiative in Pakistan, to be held from April 29 to 30.

Speaking at the Fourth General Assembly of DCO in Jordan, she sought an open invitation to all participants, saying: “I would like to take this opportunity to invite all of you to Pakistan to attend this event. Official invitations will be shared at a later stage.”

Member States encouraged the involvement of their own sectors and development partners in this initiative, which is jointly organized by the government of Pakistan, DCO, and the World Economic Forum (WeF).

With the emphasis on Pakistan’s commitment to the digital transformation, it highlighted that the foreign direct investment initiative, led by Pakistan, DCO, and WeF, will be tried in Pakistan and imagined as an annual event. She stated that this initiative will help the countries to identify and implement policies to attract investment in the digital economy, which enhances the sharing of knowledge on successful digital reforms.

Jawaga pointed out that the technology sector in Pakistan is growing at an annual rate of about 27 %. It also indicated the approval of the National Digital Law, which aims to number the economy, governance and society. The initiative is led by Prime Minister Shaybaz Sharif, who heads the National Digital Committee.

It stated the definition of the main goals of the foreign direct investment initiative, stated that it aims to link local companies to international investors and development partners, and to enhance human capital through the cooperation of the academy of industry and internationally approved training programs, and to strengthen the Pakistan site as a digital investment center according to ensuring a stable tax policy and friendly regulations for the investor .

It repeated Pakistan’s commitment to create a supportive environment for digital investment and innovation, and to place the country as a leading global destination in the digital economy.
