The federal government has ended the relief package of Ramadan at a value of 20 billion rupees, according to which financial aid will be transferred directly to nearly four million qualified individuals during the holy month. The Minister of Industries and Production, Rana Tanfir Hussein, told the Senate that the provinces governments are scheduled to implement similar models of cash transfer to the relief of Ramadan.
In addressing the concerns raised by the Senate member of the Pakistani Peoples Party (PPP), Shahdat Awan and Sherry Remean, Hussein refused to speculate regarding the closure of the Usc Foundation (USC). He explained that the entity is subject to restructuring through privatization to enhance efficiency and provide services instead of closing.
The discussion also extended to the initiative to achieve government rights, as it targeted 43 ministries and 400 facilities, which are scheduled to be completed by June 30, 2025.
The members of the Senate criticized this step, for fear of job losses, but the Minister of Law, Amzal Nazir Tarar, defended the plan, stressing that the employee’s rights will protect it.
He stressed that restructuring aims to reduce the expenses of non -development and redirect resources towards economic growth, which may lead to more employment opportunities in the private sector.
During the session, the law amending the registration of societies 2024 was presented in the Senate.
