IslamabadPakistan’s exports witnessed an increase of 7.22 % during the first seven months of the current fiscal year, reaching 5,448 trillion rupee compared to 5.081 trillion rupees in the same period last year, according to the Pakistani Statistics Office (PBS).
The temporary figures issued by PBS show that exports during January 2025 amounted to 822,732 million rupees, which represents a rise of 1.63 % compared to DECEMBER 2024, an increase of 5.12 % compared to January 2024. Improvement in the country’s export performance.
In terms of specified exports, the main commodities included in January 2025 coherent clothes (130,493 million rupees), intestinal clothing (110,618 million rupees), wearing the bed (80,442 million rupees), rice (67,228 million rupees),, Cotton clothing (45,995 rupees). Other major exports included towels, basmati rice, cotton threads, and sugar.
On the side of imports, Pakistan witnessed an increase of 4.23 % in imports, with a total of 9.203 trillion rupees during the first seven months of the fiscal year, compared to 8,829 trillion rupees during the same period last year. Imports for January 2025 reached 1,469.202 million rupees, by 1.41 % compared to December 2024, but an increase of 10.21 % compared to January 2024.
The main imports in January 2025 were petroleum products (144238 million rupees), oil crude (121,365 million rupees), palm oil (96,059 million rupees), and liquefied natural gas (87295 million rupees). Other important imports included electrical machines, plastic materials and mobile phones.
The trade balance for January 2025 reflects the ongoing trends in the import and export sectors, with an increase in the import bill, especially for energy -related products.
