PM Looking for Business Community inputs on economic growth strategy

Prime Minister Shaybaz Sharif stated that due to the efforts of his economic team, the country’s macroeconomic conditions in the country have improved significantly. However, he stressed that the government should focus on improving partial economic conditions to ensure that the benefits of economic progress will reach people.

These notes were made while addressing a delegation of major industrialists and businessmen. The Prime Minister again affirmed the government’s commitment to giving priority to promoting industry and business, admitting that the business and industrial community is the backbone of the national economy. He assured them that resolving their challenges is still a top priority.

The Prime Minister highlighted the government’s efforts to implement a friend’s policies for business and investment. He pointed out that the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) provides investors and the business community a simplified process and continuing to facilitate investment.

He also pointed out that a large part of the digitization efforts in the Federal Reearch Council (FBR) have been completed, and the entry of the customs evaluation system has strengthened the benefit of transparency. He added that the government is striving to achieve sustainable economic progress.

During the past year, significant progress has been made in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), especially in sectors that can enhance exports. The Prime Minister participated that during his visits to Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, many investment agreements were signed, which reflects the increasing confidence of foreign investors in the Pakistani economy.

He stressed that the most effective way to accelerate economic growth is to increase exports and invite suggestions from industrialists and business leaders to develop a sustainable economic growth strategy. To facilitate this, he directed the formation of a committee that includes businessmen, industrialists and government ministers, who are charged with submitting recommendations within two weeks.

The delegation praised the economic policies of the government and the improvements in the main indicators. They also praised FBR and other departments for their efforts to reduce smuggling and welcome the introduction of the customs evaluation system, privatization initiatives, and restrictions.

The meeting was attended by the Federal Minister for the Planning of Best Iqbal, Minister of Federal Industries and Production, Rana Tanfir Hosan, Federal Minister of Economic Affairs, Ahmad Khan Cheima, and Federal Minister of Finance and Iron.
