The government started an investigation into the alleged violations of the Pakistani Engineering Council (PEC) after complaints about the election of the Council and the Comprehensive Administration. A committee, led by the Minister of Law, was assigned a review of PEC performance, the processing of grievances, and the examination of potential gaps in the 1975 PEC law.

According to reports, the committee, which includes federal ministers and secretaries, will hold complaints related to misconduct in elections, procedural violations and governance fears. Its report is expected to be submitted within three weeks.

The investigation follows allegations that the violations marred the PEC elections in August 2024. The Federal Minister complained best that the vital system failed and many engineers from voting. The Ministry of Interior’s investigation revealed that the current was interrupted for a period of three hours, during which unauthorized voices were made.

The jaw candidate Salim Quraishi submitted a separate complaint, noting the falsification of votes, the deviation from the election protocols, and the unauthorized manual vote. However, the PEC administration rejected these allegations, saying that re -sorting the votes had already been made.

Additional concerns include the extension and promotion of the PEC recorder, which was challenged in the Lahore Higher Court. The court directed the Ministry of Science and Technology to review the case, which later found an irregular extension. Despite the instructions to present the issue before the Board of Directors, the PEC administration did not comply.

Other complaints accuse the PEC leadership to form committees without proper permission, pushing concerns about adhering to the regulations. The results of the committee will determine whether more procedures are needed to address governance and proceduralism within the council.
