Greenwich Entertainment has acquired the rights of North America’s distribution of “Marcella”, the documentary film on the legendary Italian president and author of the Cooking Book of Marcela Hazan. It was directed by Emmy and Babodi (also known as Doc Pomus), made the OAK Street Pictures and Willow Pond Films Production the first international show at the Coronado Island Film Festival, where he won the Audience Award, followed by the best movie at the TSTE 2025 Awards.
“Marcella” will be released in theaters on May 9, before the national broadcast and broadcasting show on “American Master”, which will be announced at a later time.
Marcela Hazan praised the way the Americans cook and understand Italian food. Through the best -selling cooking books, generations were presented to the beauty of the authentic Italian cuisine. The New York Times has once announced, “What Alice Waters did to restaurants, Hazan for home chefs.” “Marcella” provides an intimate image of her life, heritage and cooking philosophy, which includes visions of some of the most famous characters in the world of food, including Jacques Pépin, Lidia Bastianich, Shola Olunoyo, Danny Meyer, April Bloomfield, Son, Giuliano Hazan.
Produced by Renée Frigo, PGA (“Love, Charlie”), Peter Miller and Editor Amy Lenton, “Marcella” is an executive produced by Margie Jadis, and Michael Kanor from “American Master” and Chef Art Smith. The deal was negotiated by Greenwich from Andy Bohn and Renée Frigo on behalf of the directors.
