IslamabadThe National Electricity Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has informed a decrease in the electricity tariff, which led to relief to consumers throughout the country.

Nepra explained that reducing customs tariffs will not apply to some consumer categories. Lifestyle consumers, protected local consumers, electric car charging stations (EVCS), and prepaid electricity consumers who chose the prepaid tariff are not qualified for reduced rates. The revised definitions will be displayed separately in consumer bills based on the units released in the relevant month. If any bills are issued for the month of March 2025 before the notification, the amendment will be applied in the subsequent bills course.

The Discos and KE regulatory authority directed to ensure compliance with all legal rulings, including any court orders, before implementing the revised definitions. In addition, the decision of the demand initiative in the winter will be considered on December 6, 2024, if possible, with the application of new FCA prices.

The NEPRA decision is expected to provide financial relief to electricity consumers, ensuring a fair adjustment of fuel costs within the energy tariff structure.
