Prime Minister Shaybaz Sharif issued instructions to the relevant ministries and authorities to prepare within a week for meetings every two weeks with business leaders to develop implementable plans aimed at strengthening the economy.
Speaking to a delegation of prominent businessmen at the Prime Minister’s house, he announced that these meetings in the sector will start next Thursday, with the participation of government officials and industry representatives.
Each meeting will focus on a specific sector, with a delegation of four members of the business community representing the industries of each of them, while the government team will be led by the relevant ministry secretary.
The first session will address the challenges and opportunities in the agricultural sector, which confirms the government’s focus on exports, employment and industrial development.
The Prime Minister highlighted the importance of local investment as an introduction to attracting foreign direct investment. He reiterated that the government’s role is to facilitate companies by creating an empowerment environment, while the private sector will make economic progress.
In recognition of the business community’s contributions, he admitted their investments even during difficult times, which, as he said, kept the economy to move and provide job opportunities. He assured them that their inputs will be an integral part of continuous economic reforms, adding that the low interest rates and inflation indicates the movement of the economy in the right direction.
During the meeting, business representatives expressed their confidence in government policies and praised the establishment of the National Seed Development Authority, which aims to ensure the availability of high -quality seeds for agricultural development.
Participate with China
Separately, the Prime Minister met with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidung, with the greetings of President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Lee Qiang to hold a successful National People’s Conference and the Chinese Political Consultative Conference.
Shabaz expressed his satisfaction with strengthening bilateral relations and thanked China for its continuous support for Pakistan. Again stressed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening its strategic partnership with China, while emphasizing mutual cooperation in security and combating terrorism efforts. Discussions confirmed the design of both countries on strengthening their “strategic cooperative partnership in all weather conditions” and exploring new ways of cooperation.
