SXSW is famous for being the most welcoming station in the festival circuit, with fans eager to jump to their feet and shout on every strange joke or killing. In fact, a bundle of buzz offered before every Sunday’s show to highlight the programming of the previous day, clips of film makers such as Dave Franco and Paul Fig, extending the Austin Mobilization for their positive capacity.
But some of those present at the first global show of “Netherlands”, led by Nicole Kidman, appears to be Matthew McFaden and Jelly Garcia Bernal, on the brink of the abyss. Kidman still attracted a healthy dose of chants when her name appeared when the movie was presented and when she appeared on the stage after that, but the folder was less than usual due to empty sections of the seats. Many audience members whispered and left the stage throughout the sequence of the naked nightmare of the film and bloody conspiracy stations. With the outbreaks of the credits, many chose not to circumvent the post -screen painting, while the main headlines on Friday and Saturday witnessed more enthusiasm for questions and answers.
In the Netherlands, Nancy suspects Nancy in her husband (McFaden) from cheating on her, and creates her colleague (Bernal) to help investigate her doubts. As she continues to reveal confusing evidence, twice the unity of her family is manifested in terrifying surreal dreams.
“Dreams came out of the desire to feel that we could be inside Nancy and enter the anxiety and fear that she was suffering from,” said director Mimi Kaif. “As you want to protect her family and her son. I have a real way to stories through the visual images, and she tends to be beautiful there. All that ends in seeing on the screen is usually confirmed from where it started.”
Everyone in the “Netherlands” has secrets, but the character of McFiene, Farid, is the most mysterious ever. “When you make the movie, you play every moment as it comes,” he said when he was asked how he approached the conspiracy shifts. “Most of the unique, beautiful, very sweet, so sweet, until he wanders south. Until then, you only play a family man, a loyal husband. The more it tends, the better, because then we hope the reward will be more interesting.”
The film was named after the Netherlands, Michigan, the city affected by the Dutch where it takes place, and before things go, Nancy is the ideal picture of the life of an American house in the old school. Speaking of the preparation, Kidman said: “It was amazing to go and do Mimi. She wanted to be able to create another world, and the background of the air and stability mill, all of which gave her a cinematic basis to create what she is doing.
Bernal, of course, was not playing in the Middle West. Dave, a Mexican American, feels like a stranger in the Netherlands, adding tension to his relationship with Nancy, who is popular in the city.
“It was a great opportunity to photograph Chicano, a strand of Mexican culture that has evolved for many years (within) the United States’ tradition.” Bernal said. “To go to this part of the United States where it is very specific. Chicano is not the same as in Los Angeles, or as here (in Texas). I liked to go to my own world and then play against (Kidman and MacFadyen) and enjoy a lot as well.”
