Islamabad: The Ministry of Finance issued an official clarification in response to the recent media reports that indicate that Finance Minister Mohamed Orangazib hinted that salaries and pensions for government employees will not exceed in the coming fiscal year. Clarification, issued on Monday, refutes these allegations, saying that the Minister of Finance did not make this statement.
The confusion arose after the written response from Aurangzeb to a question that was asked in the National Assembly (NA). The media reported that the Minister of Finance suggested that there would be no increases in compensating government employees in the 2025-26 budget. However, the financing department has categorically denied these reports, stressing that it was not based on facts.
“The Minister of Finance has not issued any such announcement,” the Ministry of Finance said in a statement. “The news reports that this statement is not accurate.”
The statement also clarified that during his speech to the National Assembly, Uranquners did not mention any plans to review wage balances or the salaries of government employees. Instead, the ministry confirmed that, in response to a question posed by a member of the association, it provided a written explanation stating that reviewing the balance of wages, salaries and allowances for federal government employees for the next fiscal year is not in consideration.
The clarification comes at a time when concerns about the salaries of employees and government pensions are an important topic for public discussion, especially in light of inflationary pressures and economic challenges. While the government is preparing to provide its budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, any mention of the amendments to the employees’ compensation closely is seen.
The Ministry of Finance’s statement aims to dispel confusion and reassured the public that no official decisions have been taken regarding wage reviews. With the government’s appointment to put the finishing touches on the next budget, it remains to see whether any other ads related to the governmental advantages of employees will be issued in the coming weeks.
