Dubai (United Arab Emirates): Faisal Niaz Tarmizi, Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE, inaugurated the Pakistani Pavilion at GITEX Global 2024 today at the Dubai World Trade Centre. In his speech, Ambassador Tarmazi expressed his pride in GITEX Global’s recognition of Pakistan as the “Technology Destination of 2024”, an acknowledgment of the amazing progress the country has made in IT-related services and products.
Consul General Hussain Muhammad, Trade and Investment Advisor Ali Zeb Khan and senior government officials from Pakistan were also present on the occasion.
Ambassador Tarmzi highlighted the significant growth achieved by Pakistan’s IT exports to the UAE, which rose by 34% to reach $265 million. He also noted that Pakistan’s global IT exports now exceed US$3.2 billion, with potential for continued growth.
The Ambassador lauded the collaborative efforts of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications (MoITT), Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), Pakistan Software Houses Association (PASHA) and Private Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in regulating and showcasing the IT industry in Pakistan. Ambassador Tirmizi also praised the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Minister of State for ICT Shatha Fatima Khawaja, for their vision in moving the country’s IT sector forward. “Pakistan, with the third largest English-speaking population and the second largest independent IT services provider in the world, is uniquely positioned to expand its IT exports,” Tirmizi emphasized.
Ambassador Tarmazi encouraged business leaders and IT professionals to visit the Pakistan Pavilion, where 24 exhibitors will showcase innovative technologies and services. He stressed that GITEX World Expo provides an unparalleled opportunity for Pakistani IT experts to network with their global counterparts and explore potential avenues of cooperation.
