2,179 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus in Sindh trendy blogger

Sindh Chief Minister (CM) Syed Murad Ali Shah on Sunday shared that 2,179 people were diagnosed with coronavirus overnight, out of a total of 9,244 samples tested in the day.

Shah added that 435,393 samples have been tested so far in Sindh, of which 80,446 samples were positive, constituting about 18.4 per cent of the total.

The Chief Minister informed that the testing capacity in the district has been extended to 12,000 per day, thanks to the laboratories set up in Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Gambat and Sehwan, which have been operational for the past month.

According to Shah, Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences in Hyderabad can conduct 2,000 tests, Syed Abdullah Shah Institute in Sehwan 100, Gambat Institute 300 and Ghulam Muhammad Meher Medical College in Sukkur can examine 100 samples.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister stated that 26 more people died due to the infectious disease overnight, bringing the death toll to 1,269 in the province. He claimed that the government succeeded in reducing the death rate by spreading awareness among the masses.

Shah added that the number of people currently infected with the virus is 34,654, including 33,110 in home isolation, 88 in quarantine in isolation centers, and 1,456 receiving treatment in various hospitals. He added that 655 patients were in critical condition, and 94 of them were placed on ventilators.

Meanwhile, he said another 1,079 patients recovered from the infectious disease, raising the number of recoveries to 44,523 – about 55.5 percent of all those infected.

Moreover, the provincial capital saw 1,406 new COVID-19 cases. He offered a breakdown of the regions, saying 555 were diagnosed with the virus in the east, 358 in the south, 171 in Korangi, 138 in the centre, 109 in the west and 75 in Malir district.

Separately, Sukkur had 86 new cases, Hyderabad 54, Ghotki 40, Khairpur 38, Jamshoro 26, Mirpurkhas 22, Thatta 19, Larkana 17, Sanghar 14, Naushero Feroz 12, Matiari 12, Shikarpur 12, Shaheed Benazirabad nine, Umerkot eight, dado. Seven, Kashmore and Tando Allahyar three each, and Jacobabad one.
