Srinagar:
Coronavirus cases in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir crossed the 7,000-mark including 94 deaths, officials said on Sunday.
As many as 127 new cases were reported in the past 24 hours, bringing the national tally to 7,093, according to the latest data released by the government.
The data revealed that since June 13, about 2,700 cases of infection and 41 deaths have been recorded, including a 15-day-old infant.
The Kashmir Doctors Association warned against community transmission, saying that more than 90% of the region’s population is at risk of infection.

Dr. Sohail Naik, president of the association, told Anadolu Agency that the latest numbers indicate that the virus has reached the community, and will spread amid the easing of restrictions.
“We cannot afford the excessive number of cases in our backward healthcare systems,” he said. “The only treatment available is social distancing, hygiene and prevention.”
While educational institutions remain closed and public transportation remains suspended in the area, some businesses have reopened.
As the pandemic crisis looms, Indian forces have continued their human rights violations in the valley, killing more than 130 freedom fighters in more than 40 gun battles in 2020 so far.
