Islamabad: Pakistan is expected to increase the defense budget by 159 billion rupees for the next fiscal year 2025-1025, which amounts to the total allocation to 281 billion rupees, according to a report issued by Express News.
Official sources indicate that the proposed budget represents an increase of 7.49 % compared to the allocation of the current fiscal year of 2122 billion rupees for a period of 2024-25.
In the previous fiscal year (2023-24), the defense budget amounted to 1858.8 billion rupees. The government raised defense spending by 263.2 billion rupees this year, which represents a 14.16 % increase from the previous year.
The consistent upward trend reflects the continued government’s priorities for military and national security expenses amid wider financial planning. More details are expected about sectoral allocations and new spending areas in the official budget announcement later this year.
