Regional Tax Office 1 (RTO-1) revealed a significant fraud in sales tax worth 315 billion rupees in the iron and steel sector, according to a statement.
Fraud activities were carried out under the leadership of two people, with the help of their brother and cousin. One additional partner has been arrested regarding the scheme.
According to reports, the accused was brought before the Special Court of Customs, Taxes and Anti -Drainage. The private judge ordered the detention of two suspects in prison reservation, while one of the two partners was granted a physical physical for seven days and handed over to RTO-1 for more investigation.
RTO-1 has launched a continuous investigation to identify other individuals concerned and follow the beneficiaries of fraud.
The chief commissioner at RTO-1, Dr. Fahim Mohamed, praised his team for his successful work operations, with a focus on the administration’s commitment to combating fraud on sales tax and perpetrators accounting.
The investigation is expected to send a strong message to deter illegal activities in the future within the sector.
