The cement sector publishes modest growth amid export increase

Islamabad: The Association of all Pakistani cement manufacturers (APCMA) issued data showing mixed performance by the cement industry in April 2025. While the total missionaries, the sector is still fighting with slow local demand, which led to calls for government support in the upcoming federal budget.

According to APCMA, the total cement consignments in April 2025 amounted to 3.342 million tons, which represents an increase of 13.24 % compared to 2.951 million tons in April 2024. Local cement miles increased by 7.64 % on an annual basis, reaching 2.516 million tons from 2.333 million tons. Export transmitters recorded stronger growth, climbing 34.56 % to 826,457 tons from 614,214 tons in April 2024.

Wise data shows that cement factories in the north sent 2.239 million tons in April 2025, an increase of 7.22 % of 2.088 million tons in the same month last year. Southern Mills sent 1.10 million tons, which reflects an increase of 27.81 % of 863327 tons in April 2024.

At the local level, the mills of its northern headquarters provided 2.124 million tons in April 2025, an increase of 9.39 % over 1.942 million tons registered in the previous year. On the other hand, the south -based mills witnessed a marginal decline of 0.95 % in local sales, as 391,445 tons were sent compared to 395,199 tons in April 2024.

Export trends were far apart: Northern mills recorded a 21.64 % decrease, as exports fell to 114,467 tons from 146,086 tons. However, Southern Mills recorded a 52.09 % sharp increase, as exports increased to 711,990 tons from 468,128 tons in April 2024.

In the first ten months of the current fiscal year (July 2024 – April 2025), the total concrete missionaries alike reached 37.336 million tons, a decrease of 0.32 % from 37.454 million tons in the same period last year. Local missions decreased by 5.55 %, and decreased to 29.978 million tons from 31.740 million tons, while exports increased by 28.77 % to 7.359 million tons from 5.714 million tons.

The mills provided its northern headquarters 24.915 million tons to local markets in the period of ten months, which reflects a decrease of 4.82 % from 26.178 million tons in the corresponding period of last year. Northern exports increased by 4.13 % to 1.234 million tons from 1.185 million tons. Total missionaries from the north decreased by 4.44 % to 26.150 million tons.

In the south, local missionaries decreased by 8.98 % to 5.062 million tons, a decrease from 5.562 million tons. However, exports from the region increased by 35.22 % to 6.124 million tons from 4.529 million tons, reaching a total of 11.186 million tons, an increase of 10.86 % from 10.091 million tons in the same period last year.

APCMA spokesman pointed out that the health rise in exports was encouraging, but low local consumption remained a great concern, as nearly a third of the productive capacity was in lethargy. He urged the government to provide friendly measures for industry in the upcoming federal budget to stimulate construction activity, enhance the global competitiveness of Pakistani cement, and create more export opportunities.
