“The Last Kingdom” and “My Policeman” star David Dawson leads an international cast in dystopian thriller “The Flaw,” the first feature film from Theophilos Papastylianos, which is currently filming in Athens.

Dawson is joined by British actors Arthur McBain (“Napoleon,” “Interview with the Vampire”), Ralph Little (“The Royle Family,” “Death in Paradise”) and Danny John Jules (“Red Dwarf,” “Lock ,”). Set in a dystopian world dominated by the system, The Flaw follows a ruthless detective (Dawson) who is ordered by the Special Service to follow a perfect plan to prove a suspect (McBain) guilty. Published in 1965, The Flaw is the most famous work of Antonis Samarakis, one of the leading figures in modern Greek literature. It has been translated into more than 30 languages ​​and won the Grand Prix Poilicière in France in 1970.

The novel, published just two years before a military junta seized power in Greece, is a meditation on truth, state oppression, democracy, and power that remains eerily relevant to this day.

“The Flaw” is produced by Argonauts Productions in co-production with Greek public broadcaster ERT and Latvia’s Mima Films, with support from the Hellenic Film Centre, EKOME and the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia.

Producers are Panos Papahadzis, Lena Yiannopoulou, and Theophilos Papastilianos, with Alize Rogol as co-producer. The film was written and directed by Papastilianos.

Athens-based Argonauts Productions, which co-produced David Cronenberg’s “Future Crimes” at Cannes, has wrapped the first season of the highly anticipated biblical drama “House of David” on Prime Video.

Dawson recently appeared in the BBC drama “This Town” from “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight. McBain, whose credits include Ridley Scott’s epic “Napoleon” and AMC’s “Interview with the Vampire,” will soon appear alongside Bryce Dallas Howard, Orlando Bloom and an all-star cast in Prime Video’s original UK action comedy “Deep Cover.”

Little is best known for his work in the BBC series Pints ​​of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, The Royle Family and Death in Paradise. John Jules, a longtime co-star of the sci-fi TV series “Red Dwarf,” also appeared in “Blade 2” and “Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.” Prosco has directed a wide range of classical and contemporary plays, and is co-founder with Parthenope Pouzori of the Chamber Theater in Athens.

Rounding out the film’s cast are Sarah Akokhia, Georgia Small, Nathan Thomas, Mihalis Valassoglou, Matthew Sim, Ben Tavasoli, and Skyra Archer.
